Come Celebrate With Us - Join the Floating Parade!
On Sunday, June 23 at 2:30 pm, The Lincolnville Bi-Centennial Committee
will be sponsoring a floating parade on Norton's Pond. The new boat-launching
ramp at Breezemere Park will be formally dedicated, and parade prizes
will be awarded in categories that will include almost anything that
floats. Individual Lake and Pond Associations are invited to enter
a representative float, but any or all guests who wish to participate
will also be welcomed.
The Park will be heavily used for Bi-centennial activities from Friday
the 21st in the evening, until late afternoon on Sunday, the 23rd. Boaters
should note that the ramp at Breezemere Park may be closed for launchings
and take-outs various times during that week-end, and anyone who possibly
can is encouraged to find an alternative spot. The Committee will post
any schedule of closings well in advance at the Park bulletin-board.
PLEASE NOTE - Parking for trailers will be very limited in the Center,
and there will be none at the Park itself all week-end long, probably
from Friday afternoon through Sunday evening details available
later.
Ken Bailey is going to patrol the Pond all day Sunday and possibly
Saturday as well, and advises that all boating rules will be strictly
enforced. In the interest of safety, it would be very much appreciated
if those of you who enjoy tubing and water skiing would refrain from
these activities on Saturday the 22nd and Sunday the 23rd, when traffic
on the pond and at the park could be quite heavy.
Anyone who would like to volunteer for this event is welcome to contact
"The Boat Parade" at pond@starband.net
or at 131 Marriner's Drive, Lincolnville, 04849.
Your help and your comments are welcomed. Check local news, or and look
for posters around town,
closer to the date for details regarding contest rules, and other details.
