1830-1840
Population is 1,704.
Each landowner along the shore has rights to a fishing berth, the
stretch of shore where a weir and nets could be set to catch salmon.
This fishery provides springtime cash for farming families. In early
days families salt and smoke the fish or dry it; by 1900 the catch
is shipped to Boston fresh on ice.
1835: The church building on Route 1 at Lincolnville Beach is built.
Today it is known at Bayshore Baptist Church
