Some 400,000 casks of lime are shipped from Lincolnville during this
decade, much of it produced in the small kilns nearly every farmer
operates.
Farming in Lincolnville moves beyond the subsistence level as farmers
begin to ship hay and grain to cities in southern New England.
1845: One farm reportedly grows a "brig of wheat" for sale.
1845: Brig Florina is built at Lincolnville by George Drinkwater at
162 tons, 90 feet.
